Expensive but if you have the money, well worth it. They’ve taken great care of our grandparents for over a decade, calling us anytime something has happened to them.
We toured Pennswood Village. There were many things about it that we all liked, but our dealings with the sales team were not very satisfactory. They gave us contradictory information and told us we needed to put down a deposit to hold a room. We gave them a deposit of $5,000, but they still have not accepted my mother-in-law's application. The facility itself was great. The residents were friendly, and the food was quite good.
Pennswood Village was good. They treated their residents like royalty, and they were very good to them. The staff seemed very nice. As far as cleanliness, it was very clean. Also, they had everything in there. They had an art gallery, their own post office there, their own gym, and a little restaurant there. They had a dining area for their residents, but they also had a dining area for when their family came. Their doctors were there. They also had a hairdresser. Everything was on campus that you would need. The staff who gave me the tour was very friendly and explained everything.
My mom and daddy lived there for many years and were well taken care of and very happy
My mother is in their assisted living unit called Barclay. They have the nicest, most compassionate caregivers. Jury's still out on the management.
Pennswood Village was very beautiful. We liked the people that we met. The activities that they had were pretty standard but appealing. For us, this is the closest place to New York, so it makes it easier for us to get back to the city to visit friends and relatives. We also liked the fact that it's been there for a while; it's a more mature and developed community. The staff was excellent. They were very welcoming in setting us up to meet people, look at the apartments, take a tour, and get a feel of it. We visited the place two or three times. They just revamped their dining area. It's a very large space (both indoors and outdoors) and has an outside porch area. They're also in the process of opening another dining room, sort of a bar area. So, they have been doing a lot of renovations. The resident's rooms were not as modern as some of the new places that we've seen, but they're fine. We were looking at a two-bedroom, and it's the same size as the one we're living in now. It had a balcony. The food was very good. They had just changed to a system of ordering and having it made special for each meal.
Becoming a member of the Pennswood Village family is one of the best decisions I have ever made. The residents and staff work together to make Pennswood great. The staff continually learn from the residents, and the residents continue to learn from our staff. Pennswood offers excellent cuisine, first-rate cultural experiences, and wellness opportunities – in short, all who work and live here find a happy life of growth, fulfillment, and joy.
Its a wonderful retirement community, staff is friendly, the layout is very accessible.
