Absolutely Fantastic. We are very pleased with the staff, the facility, and the level of care that my mom receives at McCallum. McCallum, provides a safe, comfortable place that provides very good meals for the residents. If you are looking for a place that feels like home. Stop past and take a look at McCallum
I went to McCallum Assisted Life. I saw a room with a shared bathroom. The staff told me the price point. They have a doctor every month that comes out to the location. They do things for them, they have activities, and they do the medication. I like the location. The staff was very friendly, very knowledgeable, and informative. It's an older facility, but it was nice and clean. They had a patio. They did show me the board where they have activities.
They have done renovations. It is unclear what the opportunities for activities as it is difficult to get much input from the resident when I visit a few residents are friendly. When I inquire about meals I get an okay response.
My dad spent a few months here. I wouldn't recommend you sending anyone you care about here. The owner lied multiple times about things happening here. They have multiple psych patients that get physical with other people living here and no activities at all for keeping everyone stimulated. We were lied about the dinner here too, my dad is diabetic and they have no meal options for them so they were eating high sugar food everyday. And they serve dinner at 3:30 so my dad had to go over 15 hours every day without a meal. My dad also had multiple patients came and steal things from his room, begging for money, and threatening him if he didn't give them any. The nursing staff isn't always there and multiple times no one was there to watch the patients so they did what they wanted. I will be reporting them to the state because the owner would tell us he would fix things, but nothing happened. The building is in a nice neighborhood but the inside is horrible.
McCallum Assisted Living may certainly not be the newest, shiny and modern community but it is nice and we have been very pleased with the staff. It is clean but it is just an older building. The staff are very easy to get ahold of and we do think the overall value is very acceptable and we like how close the community is in proximity. We were very impressed with the initial speed of the process and being able to find this community. Our loved one overall seems happy.
They were the only place willing to accommodate [name removed]'s mental health needs. They have been very responsive in that sense. I've only been there once, but they were an OK place.
We thought the McCallum Assisted Life community was a very nice environment for a our loved one, the building itself is very nice looking with a great tree line and nice wrap around porch. He always said the meals were very good and based on our families experience we would recommend them to other families.
My step father stayed at this facility and all seemed well until one day at 4am I received a call from my mother crying saying that my stepdad had died. I called the facility only to find they never accurately checked for a pulse. It was a super stressful day and we made funeral arrangements etc. All we received was a sorry that did not seem genuine. We removed our loved one from this home and never looked back at this place that made us feel unhuman.
