The care giving staff is great, but the administration is not easy to deal with. We moved my dad in and within 2 months his pricing increased by a couple thousand dollars per month. Once it goes up, regardless of the circumstances, it won’t come down. My dad had surgery and needed some extra help for a couple of weeks after getting out of the hospital. They increased his “level of care,” which I understood. But once he got back to normal, they kept trying to justify the higher rate. They have redone their pricing, so maybe there isn’t as much “grey” area now! Ultimately, after living here for…

Ultimately, after living here for almost 2 years my dad passed away. I wasn’t even acknowledged from management! She never offered condolences, thoughts, prayers…nothing! When I inquired about billing, they were not friendly nor did they want to take the time to explain! It was there way or the highway! I will acknowledge one incident that impressed me. My dad’s tv broke and that was his most favorite thing in the world. The administrator did go out after hours and purchased a tv for him so he wouldn’t have to be without. I live 10 hours away and was there about every 6 weeks. My brother that lived close by was out of town. So that was a very kind gesture! That was the only kind and thoughtful moment I experienced with admin!!! The nursing staff was great! Most of them seemed to really care and loved my dad! They were always running around trying to take care of everyone’s needs. When my dad was in his final hours they were so supportive of our family and did everything in their power to keep my dad comfortable. I will feel a forever bond with those girls (they know who they are) and be forever grateful that they were the ones working in those final days!!!! To wrap this up, my brothers and I were comforted by the fact that my dad had someone checking on him regularly! Just be mindful that admin is not warm and fuzzy like they might portray when you first inquire.

Very clean and every one so nice and helpful. Both of my parents were there and had wonderful care. We don’t know of a better place we could have put them!

My father in law is there and all the girls I talk to are so nice , so caring and compassionate about everyone one in there . Always happy to see my husband and myself . The care they provide to my father in law is exceptional . Keep up the great work girls .

My in-laws stayed at Columbia Cottage Hanover. It looked like a large house. It did not look like a facility, the decor, the wallpaper, just the way that it was set up. You feel like you're in a big house when you walk in, which to me is very comfortable and it was very fresh smelling. The food was great and the care. My father-in-law had dementia and they would let him assist them in the office. He thought he was at work and they gave him great attention. The care there was excellent. I had mashed potatoes and gravy and chicken. It was not like a lot of facilities I've seen. It looked like real food. It tasted like real food. There were family events. There were a lot of activities outdoors. I saw people participating in the common area. The beauty of the place made me feel like I was not in a facility. I liked the homey look. Everybody had a wreath on their door and it wasn't all the same wreath. When you went in, he had an area right inside the door where to the left was a bathroom, and to the right was his bed right inside the door. A few more steps past the door, it was like an L-shaped, and he had two easy chairs there. It was his own furniture. Everybody could take their own furniture. He had his own recliners, shelving with the TV, and his family pictures on the shelving.

Came to visit my mom. Easy sign in. Staff friendly and greeted me. My moms room is always clean and comfy.

Your staff seems very friendly and very helpful, everything is nicely decorated for all the holidays which I feel makes the people feel at home

It's lovely. Very well taken care of. It's a bit more dignified than average nursing homes

Columbia Cottage is a beautiful, lovely place. It's as close as it gets to living at home! The staff truly care about the residents' safety, well-being and happiness. They have a very strong activities program that engages residents and which they look forward to very much. Unfortunately, a few disgruntled job applicants have brought the overall rating down and have created a false impression. If I needed assisted living, this is where I'd want to be.
