The facility is beautiful and I think fairly priced. The only issue we have is some of the staff. The long standing staff are wonderful but there seems to be a high turnover and the newer staff either are not trained properly or don't want to do their jobs.

I like the overall bright, clean and friendly atmosphere I encounter when I visit. The food situation has been unfortunate as there has been substantial turnover in the past several months, with no chef for a while and not enough servers. Food has been served barely warm and dining experience no matter what time of day has been extremely slow. A new chef has been hired and my experience two weeks ago was much improved, however.

We toured Ashton Commons Senior Living. It was very nice. It's a brand-new place, and it was beautiful. They had cottages, which we didn't go to see because we talked about the price before they took us to show us anything. We knew they were too expensive. We were in their general area, and we saw their dining area and their main common areas. Everything was brand new, and the people there were extremely nice. They had signs up that said they had different programs, like bingo, crafts, and outings, and that you could sign up for. They had rides to appointments like if you had doctor's…

All except food I would rate 5. Food rate 3-4 although we have a new chef and that rating might go higher. Overall I am very happy we chose Ashton Commons! [name removed] is the Community Relations Director and she is a large part of our choice to come here. She went the extra mile in helping us to relocate from the west coast to Pittsburgh. We are in an independent living cottage and having that independence was the second reason we chose to come here. The Executive Director Diane Hockenberry listens to questions and requests and is very accommodating to work with. A Place For Mom really helped us in our search since we were so far away. The person helping me found several retirement communities for us to investigate and made appointments for us to tour via face time. Very helpful!

Food is good. Communication between medical personnel and doctor on site very poor. They are severely understaffed from top administrative position to daily workers.

My mom had a wonderful stay at Ashton Commoms. She was in an apartment with a kitchenette, full bathroom, living room and a full bedroom. The apartment was beautiful. She was able to move around with no problem. The food was excellent. The hair salon was excellent. The staff in the dining area and the other team members were so friendly and welcoming as this as her first time staying there. The residents were so inviting. If my mom was sitting by herself she had residents either sit with her or asked her to sit with them. No complaints at all - we will be returning hopefully again for a respid stay in the summer. Highly recommend this senior living facility. I was so relieved when we had my mom stay there for her stay.

When you walked into Ashton Commons Senior Living, it didn't smell like old people or pee or poop. It was beautifully laid out. The dining area was gorgeous. The rooms were very beautiful. You walked in, you had your counter and the big refrigerator. The bathrooms were nice, especially for people with walkers because my sister-in-law has a walker. We were looking for a studio, and the studio-sized bedroom was perfect. It was big enough for her, but yet not too big, and it wasn't too small. She can have a bed, a nightstand, a lift chair, a dresser, and her TV. It has lots of storage space. They have happy hour on Friday. They had a bar and karaoke. They have plenty of activities. It was overall a beautiful place. The staff seemed very happy with working. The patients were walking around. They were all smiling and saying hello. The amenities were great. I'd give the staff a ten, that's how good they were.

Such a wonderful place!!! Knowing that my loved one is cared for by such dedicated staff, helps me sleep better. There is no facility that compares! We saw them all. The management team makes every effort to make this life transition easy and seamless. Thank you all for making a difficult transition comfortable and setting our minds at ease.
