We had the opportunity to go caroling at Whitestone Care Center during the holidays, and Savitri was so kind and welcoming. She made everything easy to coordinate, and the residents really enjoyed the performance. We had a great experience and would love to come back again this year!
I accompanied a family friend to this facility recently. I was so impressed with the atmosphere. The activities department really keeps the residents engaged. All of the staff is incredibly kind, but a special shout out to Savi! She goes above and beyond for the residents.
What an amazing facility. As a pastor of a local church it is great to see our community showing the love to those who are in a time of need. My mom’s husband is here for rehab and being that my mom is deaf its hard for her to understand everything. The staff has been so patient and understanding, as they help her navigate a tough situation. Special shout out to Lydia Rodriguez, Carol Moore and Cheri Kolasensky for all their help. May Gods love continue to flow in this facility as all the nurses and staff attend to our families in their time of need!! Dana Antal
"I have had the opportunity to visit numerous care centers throughout New York. During a recent trip to visit a family member, I encountered Whitestone Care Center and was thoroughly impressed. The facility's presentation, cleanliness, odor-free hallways, and comfortable rooms were particularly noteworthy. The ongoing programs, the residents' engagement with music and their individual abilities, and the active involvement of the activity staff all demonstrated a remarkable level of pride, care, and dedication to their work. Furthermore, the director ensured that family members had ample opportunities to participate with their loved ones. This experience was profoundly meaningful to me
I had the opportunity to visit Whitestone Care Center in Stroudsburg as part of my search for a suitable facility for my mother-in-law. From the moment of entry, the staff demonstrated exceptional pleasantness and a welcoming demeanor. The facility itself presented as impeccably maintained and odor-free. However, what particularly distinguished Whitestone was the observable engagement between the activity department and the residents. The residents appeared actively involved and content, which was of paramount importance to me. Witnessing their smiling faces provided reassurance that, should I select Whitestone, my mother-in-law would benefit from a dedicated team addressing not only her medical requirements but also her emotional well-being.
The leadership and staff are amazing. So much thought and care goes into the details that make up the daily lives of residents. Its less "facility" and more "home" for certain. The activities and theme days and the recognition given to the residents for their individuality is impressive and makes a world of difference. Everything from cultures to service to careers is celebrated and honored. Highly recommend. Additionally, the staff is valued and respected and this shows in the wonderful care they give.
This is a great facility with a caring and hardworking staff. Everyone is friendly and treats everyone with respect. Brittney Patterson does a great job as Director of Nursing and helps create a very positive environment. The staff is always kind, professional, and attentive to everyone’s needs. Every time I’ve been there the facility is extremely clean and taken care of. This is the cleanest nursing home I’ve been to.
My family had an extremely disturbing experience at this facility, to the point that we filed a complaint with the Pennsylvania Department of Health. If I could give zero stars I would. My mother, who suffers from MS, COPD, and end-stage coronary heart disease, was sent here for rehabilitation and stayed for only one night due to the level of neglect she experienced. During her first night, I was on the phone with her when she began having significant difficulty breathing. While I remained on the phone, she repeatedly pressed the call button for assistance, but no staff member responded. She then began calling out for help multiple times and was still ignored. I personally attempted to contact the nurses’ station and spent over an hour repeatedly calling with no answer. The facility’s phones also appear to shut off after a certain hour, making it nearly impossible to reach anyone in an emergency situation. As my mother’s condition worsened, she became terrified and believed she was going to die. All I could hear over the phone was her crying out for help while no one came to assist her. Ultimately, my mother had to call an ambulance herself. When EMS arrived, staff allegedly attempted to prevent them from entering and dismissed my mother’s medical distress as though she was overreacting. After being transported to the hospital, doctors discovered she had a massive fluid buildup around her heart, which was causing her severe breathing difficulties. Had she not advocated for herself and called 911, the outcome could have been tragic. Based on our experience, this facility demonstrated a shocking lack of urgency, compassion, and medical responsiveness toward a critically ill patient. Families considering this facility should thoroughly research and proceed with caution. The staff’s negligence and incompetence nearly resulted in my mother losing her life.
