The entire campus is absolutely incredible! Gina C. in Admissions for Independent Living and Personal Care consistently shows genuine compassion and understanding toward everyone who lives there. Every person you pass in the halls greets you with a friendly “hello,” and each area of the campus is impeccably clean and smells wonderful. Kudos to the entire team for taking such exceptional care of their residents and for creating an environment that feels warm, welcoming, and comforting every time I visit.
If your loved one needs rehab, this is not the place. Approx 40 min of rehab a day, then off to their room to sit in a wheelchair til bed. I don't consider that rehab, my mom had a broken shoulder and hip replacement after a fall. She spent 30 days there and now is home and doing much better then she ever did there, she gets in home rehab that is what I should of gotten her from day 1. The aids were great when they answered the call bell. Sorry for the honest review, there are too many patients In the rehab section for the number of staff. Do better Wesley!
United Methodist Homes Wesley Village Campus provided me with proficient care and individual care during my month stay last year! Their rehabilitation facilities & staff of the entire organization provided me with the ability to recover and get on my feet as quickly as possible and home while attending to my daily needs.
My mother was terribly neglected and abused at Wesley Village. She fell on her head three times in as many days beginning on the first night. I received a call 11pm that she had fallen from the bed and hit her head, "but she is fine," or so they said, and so it began, two days of head injuries followed by hip injury when a nurse pushed her down. She had bruises covering eye socket, hands, arms, and most of her hip. It is heartbreaking to treat any living being in such a way, much less one who gave her life to others through mercy and grace. Wesley Village uses the insignia for the Wesleyan Church yet has not been affiliated for 100 years. There isn't any mistaken identity as far as facility. It is the institution where my mother was abused, necessitating transfer to emergency room twice within one week. Never did I imagine the necessity for a "body audit," that took over one hour before they would release her for transfer to the hospital. Had I been made aware rather than lied to, I would have hired a private nurse to look after my mother while I was recovering fractures from a serious car accident on the way home. The first hospital ER sent her back without treatment as the doctor advised she was brought in due to trauma, and CT findings were not related to the named trauma. I could hardly believe my ears. For the next two days I called morning noon and night and all between. They didn't answer. I tried every transport to save my mother. United Methodist Homes Wesley Village in Pittston was holding her hostage. When I was able to reach someone, I was continually told she is fine, the phone is out of order. For the next two days called endlessly. Finally an aid brought a cell phone and put to my mother. All I could hear was distressed breathing -- she was unable to utter a word. I asked how long has she been like this and the aid said two days (since the ER). After being accused of demanding transfer to a trauma hospital, I crawled to the car, pulled myself up and drove to the hospital. What I saw can never be unseen. There was an "unnecessary" catheter halfway in bladder--blood everywhere, A urinary tract infection that didn't begin in near past. She was hospitalized received IV antibiotics, fluids, and compassionate care for weeks beforetransferred once again, this time to her home where I cared for her. As far as insignia, there isn't any dove. Instead it is the same as the United Methodist Church, location Roberts Road, Pittston, PA If only I knew to call the Dept of Aging, local police or both. Abuse of the elderly or anyone for that matter cannot be tolerated and is against the law. This post is not the only of its kind and many glowing reviews have been posted just after the original. Perhaps the executive officers should look in on what's actually happening behind closed doors. _______________________________________________ Reply from United Methodist Church It is not a United Methodist organization as such. Some conferences have ended all ties with hospitals and senior care centers they were part of founding decades, or in some cases, well over a century ago. These two conferences have decided not to do so. Since the conference does not have oversight over what happens at these care centers, however, you will want to be in touch with those who do. This is why I suggested you contact the chaplain and the executive director of Wesley Village first, and then, if they could not adequately address the situation you described and ensure what occurred to your mother does not happen again, that's when to contact the corporate office in Binghamton. There's just not a lot the annual conference office as such can do, and, since these homes were founded by conferences and not by the denomination as a whole, nothing the denomination can do about the situation directly. ___________________________________________ Having called Binghamton, NY executive offices as well as Pittston many times without response; posting on Google finally led to a response only it was in the form of mistaken identity. If only...
My husband was recently at Wesley Village Rehab in Pttston PA after a significant hospital stay including time in the ICU. The staff at UMH treated my husband like family and when it was time to discharge home, they helped us every step of the way. From admissions to nursing, therapy, social services, dietary and housekeeping. We couldn't have asked for better care and a more positive outcome!
Wesley Village is a beautiful campus, and they have so much to offer the residents. I was most impressed by the friendliness of the staff and how well kept and elegant the community is. The cottages and apartments were very spacious. I had a very positive tour experience and when I am ready to make the move, this will be my choice!
