We moved our 91 year old Mother out of there because their air conditioning broke and was out for at least 4 days. Our Mother could not breath,so we bought a standing air conditioner to cool off her room which was registering in the 80 degree mark. Immediately she could breath and was comfortable. The next day Craig the owner called my sister who is POA and told her that we broke our contract and we had 30 days to move our Mother! The Palms had no air for at least 4 days during the 90 degree heat wave. They had NO backup generator so the residents were at Craig's mercy! We have moved our…

The Palms had no air for at least 4 days during the 90 degree heat wave. They had NO backup generator so the residents were at Craig's mercy! We have moved our Mother to another personal care home. Craig does not care about his residents and had No problem with them being with out air during the 90 degree heat wave! Please dont place your loved ones at The Palms! The owner does not care about his residents!
Recently, I went to visit a resident at the Palms and I was a little bit disturbed by the fact at one point I did point out the fact that I did smell urine about 20 feet in the door, but that’s to be expected because it’s part personal care and part independent What bothers me the most is. About a week ago for lunch they were serving chili however, the cooks that are supposed to know what they’re doing organize how many people they think are going to be there and they know that, they didn’t make enough chili. They only cooked four bags. I was told by one of the girls who work there, and the personal friend that I have that lives there how many other times have they run out of food ?that should never happen never. I also noticed that according to them, the state says that these people are only allowed to have 4 ounces of meat, potatoes and vegetables or whatever food they’re eating. They’re only allowed 12 ounces of food that’s what it comes down to. I know that’s the state minimum so they say, it could’ve changed. I don’t know. I just know there should never be an absence of food for those people. It’s enough they gotta live there to begin with. That’s why they only got two stars from me. I don’t find it that exceptionally clean, but it’ll do because most of the people that live there they don’t know the difference, and if they do, they’re not going to open their mouth they’re just gonna stay there and live in peace. The fact that you run out of food bothered me, and the fact that someone said that it was really hot in there that the electricity went down. They use the generator but it’s very very humid in that building. Well that may be,,but I think they ought to try to get that air fixed as soon as possible, I’ve been to a few personal care homes. They’re not the greatest unless you’re paying some really good money, but still, that’s no excuse,
Went on a tour yesterday for my mom and [name removed] guided me thru. She was so wonderful and helpful. Made things easy at a difficult time. I’m grateful I found this facility. My mind is now at ease about making this decision. I would say make this your first stop and save yourself a ton of worry. Thank you all again!
My mom was only there for 3 weeks but we found some of the caregivers under trained. The food was mostly starches. Too much French fries as a side dish. The facility is in need of some updating. The price was comfortable our budget. The hospice care was excellent
My father was there last year. He was on hospice care which they refused to comply with. The care was so poor, I got an apartment and moved in with him
The staff was supportive and very helpful. Our stay was very short, so we did not get to experience everything. The staff know how to do their job.
The care gets 3 because hygiene needed to be more of a priority. Cost was comparable to assisted living but offered less. Staff was nice. Place was clean. A lot of miscommunication between Staff. I would again refer to them. I would definitely recommend. Just needs some minor improvement on communication. Or might just be my interpretation. Everyone seemed happy there. I would rate 3.5 to 4 out of 5.
We toured The Palms At O'Neil. The facility was very nice, very spacious, and well laid out. The residents seemed happier than any of the other places that we visited and had some recreational spaces. The rooms themselves were nicely appointed and well-kept, and that was very warm and welcoming. The residents get together and help to plan the menus, so they have input on their food choices. The residents I spoke with all said the food was excellent and that they enjoyed living there. There was a nice outdoor space, and they did family picnics.
