If you want your family neglected and have everything stolen from them. Place them here in Mckeesport. The manager or adminastraters that have been in place are as bad as some of the patients, and have no clue what is going on. Patients go into rooms steal snacks and clothes ( phones x's 2) It is a complete circus. I have seen them serve a chicken patty and a tablespoon of vegs and call that dinner. No snacks are given. If, you take in snacks and have the employees hand them out, your family never sees them! If you put them in their room, they are stolen or the manager flips out cause they…

(Maybe clean sometimes!) Like a prison camp. Would suggest the dog pound before I would recommend this hole. Stay away! Far away!!
We toured Sterling Home, and it was very difficult to get to. It's hard to find and hard to access since it's on a back street. The facility seemed run down. When you walk in, there's a medium-sized dining hall just to the right. We arrived while the residents were having lunch, and many were gathered there. Beyond that, there did not appear to be any other amenities besides the dining room and the residents' room. The staff was friendly but unprepared. They were not aware that I was coming.
There's very little positive to say about Sterling Home other than the price. It did not seem well-maintained or clean. I would have a hard time recommending it to anybody unless they're in dire financial straits. The staff seemed disengaged. They didn't seem to have a lot of passion for their job. They had a common TV area and that's about it in terms of amenities. It's very sparse.
My mom moved into Sterling with her cat Mookie. . .my sister and I are both far away from my mom so to trust her care to complete strangers is not easy. . .I have to share that we are so VERY blessed to have found Sterling Home! Our mother has been treated with such dignity and care already. . .she's already been taken out for trips to Walmart and The Dollar Tree which are more fun for her then Disneyland! All my emails are promptly returned and any and all concerns have been immediately addressed by Teresa, Joe and the rest of their staff who seem to be very hard working with great attitudes! It was after hours the other evening when I called and Joe picked up the phone. . .my mother felt insecure about asking about her laundry so I asked and Joe was ON IT instantly! I couldn't be more grateful and feel more lucky to find such a gem of a place and such a wonderful team of huge hearted people. . . My Mother's husband passed away yesterday at another facility and my sister and I had to let her know over the phone. . .it was sooo amazingly tough to be so far away and have to give her such difficult news and not be with her. . .we called Teresa first. . .she was so very compassionate and went straight to my mother's room after finding another from the staff who my mom felt close to and had my mom call us from her phone. . . Teresa was there to hug, hold and support my mom when we couldn't be. . .to check in on her all day long and make sure she was ok. . .I am beyond thankful for her kindness and empathy. . . We all seem to worry about our parents care. . .and rightfully so. . .be assured. . .this place is a loving HOME.
Mom moved into Sterling Home last September. The place is nice and the rooms are decent. The only thing I have is that if you want a room with a bathroom, you have to pay more. If not, you have to use the community bathroom. I like the staff. They do care about the residents, and I've never seen them mistreat anyone. I know that my mother has never felt mistreated. As far as the services, they wash her clothes, make sure that she gets her meds, and they provide her with meals. I'm pretty much satisfied with the services that she receives. There are no activities going on there. They are indicating that most of the residents don't want to participate. The dining area is clean, but I think the selection could be better.
Terrible place ! Dirty no decent meals hardly no staff! They get paid hardly nothing ,don’t put anyone you love in here ! Disgusting !

I am a nurse and know what its like to work with the elderly/dementia patients, and I was outraged at how our family was treated at this facility and outraged at the lack of safty for the residents, and mortified by the response of the owner. The door is accessable to residents and they wander in and out, the staff is at one end of the hall, in the kitchen, while they sit their dementia patients down the other end of the hall, that is not visable while they are in the kitchen, there is no call bell or camera system that they can keep a watch on patients. My grandma was left sitting in a saturated diaper every time I went to see her and when we would ask any questions of the staff we were yelled at by the staff and I was even asked once to "get outta their face" Sleeping pills are given at dinner time at 5pm, there is no nurse on duty and the owner only comes in for 1-2 hrs on a tuesday to do payroll. When we brought our frustrations to the owner, she defended her staff and I was told that they aren't "required" to speak to any family members. We were told we were not to talk to any other residents, and the day we moved my gram, the day was paid for she was left alone at the end of the room and ignored at dinner time, the other residents were taken to the dining area but my gram was not fed.
