My Dad has been at Providence Place for 4 months now. So far, it has been a positive experience. Facilities- he is in a studio but has more than enough space for one person. He opted to use the twin bed, locking nightstand, dresser, lamps and chair provided by Providence Place. You can also choose to bring your own furnishings. He has supplemented his space with a few bookshelves and tables. Each room has individually controlled heating and air. The only drawback is the bathroom is a bit of a tight turn if you are using a wheelchair. He is a small person so he has learned to navigate it using…
My Dad has been at Providence Place for 4 months now. He is a small person so he has learned to navigate it using his wheelchair with an 18” wide seat. A larger wheelchair or a person with limited upper body strength may have difficulty without assistance. TV service has been fine. Internet is fantastic. Food- He says the food is good (he has been particularly happy with the oatmeal and the soups). The menu seems varied and there are alternate everyday menu options if you dislike what is offered. The residents can choose what they want for the following day and they get to choose a small, regular or large portion size. The dining staff is very nice and quickly catch on to the residents preferences. His only complaint is that sometimes you may arrive right at the start of a meal but have to wait 15-20 minutes to have your meal served to you. 3 meals per day are offered as well as access to snacks. Residents also have a mini fridge and microwave in their room for personal food items. Staff- this is where this facility shines. Everyone is very kind and seems to truly have my Dad’s best interest at heart. I feel like the nursing and aide staff keep me in the loop and have a good handle on my Dad’s needs and wants. The front desk and transportation staff are fabulous. Dad enjoys chatting with the drivers as he heads to doctors appointments. I can always count on Adrienne to find me an answer (or the correct person) when I have questions. The maintenance team has been very responsive. They even figured out how to make my dads wireless (but not Bluetooth) headphones work with the cable box. The few, very minor, not urgent requests I put in were taken care of within 24 hours. Activities- They have a good calendar of activities for the residents to participate in. My Dad mostly takes part in religious programming and the live music. There are also social hours, bingo, card games, movies, etc. Selfishly, I do wish they posted more pictures of the events for the family members to see.
Providence is places not a good place for you to put your family because I don't witness several incidents when they're covering up things with the residents there. I have also witness a woman that had passed away in another room and they management of that place decides. They're gonna move her body back to her room original room so that her family can come visit. They suck and don't take your family there.
Providence Place holds a position of high regard in the Lancaster Community. As a Senior Care Profesional, I have observed a high quality of caring care at this facility. This Lancaster location Does Not offer skilled care. When a resident needs advanced care, as in any quality facility, a personal aid must be hired, or, the resident must be moved to a location qualified to meet those needs. While Providence Place, true to their reputation, offers fantastic care, families must be actively involved to fill in for the personal preferences of the resident. No facility can offer that service, and still provide the care offered to all residents. With regular, strong doses of Family and Friends love, such as chat times, special interests, hobbies, walks, the familiar voice, etc., the resident can experience the wonderful quality of life families desire for their loved one. These essentials can be provided only by the family.
Yes ! I could be the poster child- person- for Providence Place.
I too share a similar story to the other. Providence Place promised a level of care for my father and after 6 days decided they could not handle him. My father went for 4 days without changing his clothes, there was blood on his sheets and pillow cases for a whole week. He was agitated for 2 hours before they reached out to me for help. He was taken by ambulance to LGH where the nursing/doctor staff were goong to release him. But, The nurse that oversees the nursing staff is very unprofessional and required that I take on 24 hour care for my father in addition to paying their staff. The hospital staff and my fathers doctor said it was ludicrous to demand such a thing. My father's memory care doctor spoke with them and told them that he as typical dimentia behavior. This facility is understaffed and not able to handle people with dimentia. The front desk staff was amazing! the PCAs and LPNs were amazing. They talk a good game to get your money, then nickel and dime you.
I would like to pass along accolades for Katie Sanders, Director of Sales, at Provident Place of Lancaster. While in a difficult living situation in a local rehab facility, I needed to expedite leaving there and into an assisted living facility. In doing so, certain health issues complicated the timing and placement of the move. Katie reached out to me to offer multiple options for my residence at Provident Place and accomodate my . circumstances to move. I was thoroughly amazed that anyone would go out of their way to the depth of time and energy Katie expended to research options for me. She kept me engaged frequently in conversations over the course of several weeks as my circumstances kept changing. Katie was truly a caring advocate on my behalf through it all. I can't overstate enough my thanks and appreciation to her.
I met the new community life directors on Friday; they are very efficient, hekpful to the residents and pleasant
Our mother did not want to leave her home. We were so nervous about moving her into assisted living but she was welcomed in a way that made her comfortable and secure. She loves it! She tries to attend all the activities and she is happy with the choice of Providence Place. The staff is wonderful and competent!
