My brother Dennis Newhart was a resident at Moravian for the last 2 1/2 years. He was in skilled care for Parkinson’s and his wife in memory care for dementia. We can’t say enough about the care they received. My brother died this week and we were so excited when one of my brothers caregivers came to his funeral. That says it all about the care and commitment that Moravian offers. We can’t be more grateful !
Worked here briefly a few months back. They said after 1 month of working here they would send me to school. That didn’t happen. They nit picked af everything and the lack of communication was insane at my 30 day review. They were telling me I did this and that which were all inaccurate! They put me in 3 different wards the short time I was there because they were short on staff. They hire young CNA’s fresh out of school who act like they are still in school and have “clicks”. The amount of gossip is ridiculous not to mention the RACISM i experienced while working on one of the wards from not only one CNA but also the unit RN. I have seen first hand how they treat their patients. A few refused to even enter one of the rooms there exact words were “I don’t with her” and would pass her to another CNA. Being in my position I would not transfer or even assist in a transfer. I brought this up to the DON and she did absolutely NOTHING! The only one that is worth a damn is Shel. Oh also their pay for cna’s is lower to start then any where else in the area! There are tones of places in Bangor and the Stroudsburg area that start out $20 with incentives. This place is an absolute joke. It’s like a revolving door when it comes to employees. Don’t walk, RUN far away!
This place is amazing! The only place I would ever put a loved one. If I had too..
MHS is a beautiful place. The food is excellent, The rooms are beautiful and the staff is remarkable
My mom lived there from 2005 until her death in 2011. Amazing place, great people, great food, great care. Would highly recommend for independent living.
My parents have been extremely happy since moving in Moravian earlier this year. The staff is very caring and friendly, the food is excellent, there are plenty of activities throughout the week, and the facility is meticulously maintained. My parent's one bedroom apartment is perfect and quite nice, and they take advantage of the busing to church every Sunday for those who want to go.
My mother who is now 97 has been living at MHS for 9 years. She started out in the independant living apartment and has since moved into a personal care room for the past year, following a debilitating fall. She now receives excellant around the clock nursing assistance, which includes access to an on-site doctor. She also was temporarly placed in the full time nursing care wing following a return from a hospital stay. Though her mental and physical capabilities are more challenging these days, the staff at MHS is well versed in making her feel at home and very special. For those who can afford this type of care for a loved family member, I can only give MHS my highest recommendation and my thanks.
Terrible place to work. Pro- most of the residents are kind and decent people. They will help brighten your day. Cons- bullying in the work place, harassment, sexual harassment, unfair work load. Just overall horrible place to be associated with. I have a ton of documented information that I’m happy to refer people to if they are curious how employees are treated here. If you’re not in the clique with the brass, then you’ll be treated poorly. So happy I’ve moved on from this place.
