Management is very unorganized. Social worker director is scattered and does not return phone calls in a timely manner. Understaffed to the point that patients are not cared for in a timely manor. The care does not justify the cost.
The Manor at Penn Village was given better-than-average rating as a short term rehab care. The nurses really are very thoughtful and they try to look after the residents as best they can as they are understaffed. While my mom was there, a stomach bug ran riot through the place. Practically none of the staff wear masks. Toilets are shared between rooms and can be co-ed. My mom's toilet was very soiled, and no one seemed to particularly care. The food was so-so. Activities are poorly promoted, the "library" is abysmal. My mom was released and was back in Geisinger/Danville for viral pneumonia…

My brother and his wife also caught it when visiting.
The Manor at Penn Village is very close to my home, and I have known other families who had parents there. They were very pleased with the facility and I am also very pleased with it. The nurses are very thoughtful and they really look after the residents. I can call anytime, and they don't get annoyed with me when I call to check on my mother, because she's having a difficult time since her sister is also ill. So I also had my aunt there. My aunt and my mother were extremely close. And the nurses knew this. So when my aunt passed away the day after Christmas, they went the extra mile to be…

My aunt and my mother were extremely close. And the nurses knew this. So when my aunt passed away the day after Christmas, they went the extra mile to be with my mother to help her through this difficult time. The facility is very clean and up to date. They serve fantastic meal and they offer a lot of activities for the residents. My mother gets her hair done every week. They try to make the residents feel it's like their home. They even have a chapel there. I've been very happy with it. I have no complaints.
My grandmother received excellent care while in the short term rehab unit
