Moving to Luther Acres has been a fantastic choice for us as we move forward in life. In the past year and a half, we’ve found a renewed sense of purpose that’s reignited our passions, bringing meaning and joy back into our lives. It’s wonderful to know that even as we age, we can still nurture the connections we’ve made with others throughout our lives—whether as newlyweds, parents, caregivers, or seniors. There’s nothing quite like the bond we share with those who are experiencing the same stage of life. Since moving to LA, our lives have become more vibrant and fulfilling, filled with…
Moving to Luther Acres has been a fantastic choice for us as we move forward in life. Since moving to LA, our lives have become more vibrant and fulfilling, filled with expression and enthusiasm. We wake up each morning eager to embrace new opportunities and see what fun options we have. Age doesn’t diminish what we have to offer; if anything, it enriches us. Our wisdom and experiences are invaluable, and here, we have the chance to bring them to life. It’s as if a newfound energy has been sparked in both of us, propelling us forward. The possibilities are endless as we re-explore our passions and discover new ways to put them to use. Choosing to live here means taking control of our future, deciding how we want to spend our later years. Of course, staying active as long as we can is our goal, but we also accept the changes that come with aging. We’ve chosen how we want to live our last chapter of life and shaped a path that keeps us empowered and engaged. We have done this not only for ourselves but also to lessen the burdens it often places on our children and family. Connie & Tom Rife
My Mom is there for Rehab from hip surgery. Working in the medical field myself for many years I am blown away by how bad the care is. Being told to pee in your diaper, waiting an hour for help, falling from your chair and did not get the option to go to the ER. Very disappointed in this place.
The worst - don’t trust their memory care for your loved one. We moved my mother in a number of years ago and our family is still traumatized by the experience. Rather than communicating with us openly about some of her struggles and options she ended up being over medicated and moved into a skilled area sharing a single room with a random woman. The net net of the situation: my mother was dumped / abandoned by Luther Acres staff at Ephrata Hospital. Luther Acres neglected to make sure her hearing aids and extra prescription glasses were with her. With the help of Ephrata staff we got placement for special treatment. Of course we were told by LA we had to continue to pay them or we would lose her space in Memory Care. They continued to take our money for almost two months - we were NOT told they NEVER intended to allow her back in their unit. Phone calls about hearing aids/glasses were never returned. No one on Luther Acres staff spoke to us personally about the situation but be assured they continued to take our money. Disgusting.
Just don't.
My father was placed in Lurheran Family Care. His room was in the basement with a small barred window that was more like a prison cell. While there he developed decubitus ulcers, foot drop and cantractures. He had an diaper and had creamed corn shoveled in his mouth. The hospital administrator repeatedly failed to take accountability for his staff, claiming that I was playing "phone tag" whenever I tried to reach him to inquire about my father. And while the facility was barely passing JCAHCO. Mercifuly he died of kidney failure and his suffering was over.
I hesitated looking here because of the high rates of COVID they had during the pandemic but I looked at it due to convenience. First of all each time I called for an appointment tbe representative was either out if town or not available. My mother and I ended up getting a tour from the resident. We didn't see any employees anywhere and I was quite surprised at the lack of cleanliness and organization. We towards several continuing care communities in the area. And this is the last one that I would send my mother to . Fortunately she agreed with me. There are many choices here in Lancaster. And if I were you I'd make another one
memory care unit is a joke
