Everyone was very helpful and friendly. They all pitched in together to help out no matter what their job title was. The activities director([name removed]I believe) did a fantastic job. She included everyone and made things fun for the residents. My mother absolutely loved the food. There was always someone around to socialize with and/or staff to help out with questions or problems.
This place is no longer a senior living facility. Residents had to be moved out by Dec. 2024. Thankfully, we moved my parents from here a year ago. Used agency workers who could care less about the residents & had, on numerous occasions, yelled at my parents. Rooms were never cleaned unless we went in & did it ourselves. Activities were very limited & held at opposite end of building from residents, making it hard for some to get to. Raised the cost 3 times in last year they were living there. Only good thing was the food.
Director is very bad with communicating with the family representative for the resident. I think the food was good enough. They could have tried to persuade my family member to join in more or match them with someone with like interests. The biggest problem was my father-in-law was one of the few male residents and most of the activities were attended by the ladies and he was uncomfortable being the only male at activities.
We chose this facility because it was one of the only ones that did not smell of urine when we walked in. It is also a great value for the money for this area. I would recommend Locust Grove to others.
This is a really nice place for your loved ones nice staff employees But here’s what left a nasty taste in my mouth as an employee here Without approval from me I was scheduled doubles I was okay with it as long as I got every other weekend off here’s where things got sour There was a stomach bug not covid that was causing staff and residents to get sick one day they I started throwing up and it was a morning shift and I had a double the next day I come in I was presented with a write up for missing two shifts back to back after trying to appeal and getting rejected I put in my two weeks and left then instead of direct depositing my check they sent it in the mail witch I didn’t get till about a week later
Picked up a client.
I just recently moved my mother into Locust Grove Memory Care. Everyone including Michael Koons was welcoming and hands on. This is very refreshing that the Executive Director is out and about. He is accommodating and approachable. He is always checking on everything, the staff, the residents, the activities, and much, much more. Each time I visit my mother she is adjusting slowly, her smiles are more frequent, she's talking more to the other residents and staff. Recently, they had a Steelers tailgate party outside with all kinds of food, Steely McBeam, music, and all kind of decorations. All the residents, including my mother was having a wonderful time. The Activity staff deserves a huge KUDOS! This facility is a blessing to know they are hands on and truly care.
We toured Locust Grove. We liked it. It was pretty nice. We saw a typical room. We walked up to the cafeteria. We looked at their activities schedule and meal schedule. The rooms would come with small refrigerators. I think they said that some people could put a coffee maker in there, but there wasn't a whole lot of room there. So if you were the first person in there, there's room for a couch and a chair, but if you were the second person in there, and someone else already had one in there, then that wouldn't work. The staff who toured me around was very helpful.
