Why I Love Living in My Building When I think about why I love living in my building, I realize that it really isn't the building itself that makes it special. It is the people. Over time, the people who live here have become so much more than neighbors to me. They have become my friends, my support system, and in many ways, my family. There is something very comforting about knowing that the people around you care. Here, we look out for one another. We notice when someone isn't having a good day. We check in on each other. We offer a helping hand, a kind word, or sometimes just a smile when someone needs it most. Those little things may seem simple, but they can mean the world to someone who is having a difficult day. I have experienced that sense of caring myself, and it is one of the reasons I feel so grateful to call this place home. Life isn't always easy. We all have days when we feel lonely, sad, worried, or overwhelmed. On those days, it makes such a difference to know that I am surrounded by people who care about me. I don't feel like I am just another person living in an apartment. I feel like I belong here. And then there are our pets. They have a special way of knowing when someone needs a little extra love. A wagging tail, a gentle nuzzle, or simply having a furry friend sit beside you can turn a difficult day into a better one. Sometimes the comfort we need doesn't come from words at all. It comes from the unconditional love of an animal. Our pets have become part of our community and, in their own special way, part of our family. Having Michelle as our new manager has also made our building feel even more like home. There is something meaningful about having someone here who cares about the people who live in the building, not just the building itself. Michelle has helped bring a feeling of warmth and connection that makes coming home feel different. It is comforting to know there is someone who cares about our community and wants the people here to feel comfortable, safe, and valued. To me, home isn't just four walls, a door, and a place to keep my belongings. Home is where your heart feels comfortable. Home is where you know people will notice if you're missing. Home is where you can laugh, cry, share a story, or simply sit quietly knowing you are surrounded by people who care. That is what I have found here. I have found people who have become family. I have found kindness when I needed it, friendship when I needed company, and comfort when life has been difficult. I have found neighbors who don't just live beside me, but who have become part of my life. I love living here because I don't just have a place to live. I have a place where I belong. And that, to me, is what makes a house a home.
I've lived here 8 years & the best thing about living here are the residents! We're friendly & look out for each other. If you need help, all you have to do is ask! It's an older building & could use some upgrades, but all in all, you can't go wrong!!!
I was never told, when I signed the lease, that the residents can smoke in the apartment, even though there is a no smoking sign on the managers door and outside entrance, very misleading. The manager is very unprofessional and rude. I would never recommend moving in the Carnegie Retirement Residence.
My mother lived here until June of this year when she passed away. The manager is rude! The maintenance man is a joke! I had many run in's with them while my mother was living there. Now I am I am trying to get back the deposit...they said I took the mini blinds! They were there when I left the keys with the manager!! And charged us $135 to clean carpets and $175 for labor (had I known I had to scrub the rugs I would have taken my own machine down) and $222 for new blinds??? I got a wopping $92 out of $585 deposit!! What a ripoff this place is!! I was going to have my dad apply to live there but NO WAY NOW!!!
