Staff is friendly and very easy to work with! Great care and great therapy team!
Sue, the facility director, was very responsive to our requests. My wife’s sister is a resident there. She demonstrated compassion and a desire to help us to address our loved ones needs.
Wow, amazing facility! Seeing some tremendous progress with the new ownership!
If I could give this facility zero stars, I absolutely would. For the sake of the future of all dementia patients, please, do not trust their website that advertises that they offer dementia care and “specialized activity programs that maintain daily living”. They are not trained for dementia care whatsoever. Please, do not make the mistake we made of allowing our loved one to stay here. We are urgently trying to find a nearby facility that can properly care for my grandmother, but sadly, senior care is awful everywhere... this place being one of the worst. We have given them one too many chances, and we are beyond disappointed. Edited to add that after finally transferring my grandmother to a new facility, we found pages of citations they have received from the state for abuse, neglect & more. This site is public knowledge. Please take the time to look for yourself.
Our mother arrived at St.Thomas on March 8, 2021 while the Covid lockdown was in effect. It was a critical time for all of us to decide on her wellbeing versus all the inconvenients of the pandemics (quarantine, no visitations etc.) From the begining the team at St.Thomas from administrator, admission coordinator, social workers, dietary, activity director, nurses and staff made this transition easier as possible by answering all our questions and giving us the reassurance that our mother was going to be fine. Our mother is diabetic with some heart issues and gets confuse at times so we wanted to make sure her needs were going to be met plus our mother language is Spanish with limited English which made it challenging. Today our mother is doing well. She feels safe; her meals, medication, medical supervision, communication with her doctor, personal hygiene, social activities(loves her nails to be painted), clean room are taking care off. Also she enjoys her Spanish TV channel provided by St.Thomas. So far we are very pleased with her care and looking forward for the interaction with the team that by the way is extremely heplful to have! The only reason we don't give the 5 stars is because we are looking forward for more group, social activities for the residents which was a challenge due to Covid, but now moving forward we are hoping this will take place.
The admissions and business office teams are great. Unfortunately, upon my arrival, the staff didn't know who my family member was. I found my terminally ill family member with two unopened juices next to the bed but no way to drink them. The call bell was hanging over the side of the bed and there no staff at the desk. So far my experience is that staff largely ignore hospice patients family members. To date, no one has provided any updates and I am there everyday. The Commonwealth Hospice Nurses that come into the facility are awesome but I didn'trealize that only they would be communicating with the family- which is a problem because they are only onsite once a day. Unfortunately we didn't have time to find a different facility. Unfortunately, the only thing the cleaning staff touched while I was there were the bathroom trashcan and half of the tray table.
Apparently when residents were positive with Covid, they weren't feeding them. Patient's have "gone missing" and resident requests are forgotten or ignored. Can't even bring food to residents at this time - it's delivered to staff and residents don't get it. Patients are moved without notification or notification of the families. Google makes me give a 1-star minimum but this place has gone down hill something terrible.
Worst place ever... they don't answer call buttons and walk around acting like not my job. Patients are not a priority here money is. They want your money and your house. They need to be reviewed. And the therapy is a joke.
