They overall do a good job. They help you to get dressed and washed up. But they do need more help.
The main reason we chose Berks Leisure Living was because the facility is close to family. The thing that sticks out the most is the very nice people here.
Recently under new management. Privately owned. No agency workers here. This is a home-like environment personal care home, with some dedicated long term nurse aides. This is the most affordable personal care home anywhere nearby! Situated in a beautiful rural area, it also has some nice general areas to socialize in. They have activities with fun dedicated long- term activity coordinators. This facility has a visiting foot doctor and family doctor and a salon with a wonderful hairdresser Great place to live and visit. Compared to other personal care home facilities in the area, this can't be…

The location of Berks Leisure Living is good. It is not a place where I would want my sister to be permanently, but it would be a nice place for respite until she's better. Everyone was very nice and professional, and they seemed to care about the people that were residents there. They're very friendly. They seem to have a lot of activities going on, I saw the schedule for the month, and every day there's something different happening. They even have people coming in as part of entertainment for them, they seem to have a lot to do and if you want to participate, there's plenty to do. For what my sister needs, the room which is more than a room, will be sufficient. I saw what was coming up for the evening meal and that looked good. They have an exercise room, I met one of the physical therapists and they were friendly. They have an area for that and they've got a little library and a community room where everybody can gather. It seems to be a very, very nice place.
Berks Leisure Living is a renovated former elementary building that they turned into a care facility, so the rooms were extremely spacious, with very wide hallways also because it had been a former school building. In general, I thought it was nice. The thing for me was it was too far of a distance to travel from where we live so that I could visit my dad daily. It was a little more simple in decor. One thing I noticed when I walked in was there was a little bit of an aroma that just didn't sit well with me. I'm not quite sure, but it smelled like an old building and it is an old building. It was something that just caught my attention. The staff was very helpful. The food smelled good. There was a little bit of an aroma of cigarette smoke also, and it might have been because it drifted in from outside, but you could tell it was in the air in certain areas of the facility. I didn't see any activity. That one was more in the evening around 6:30, so there were a few people who were finishing up their dinners, but the dining area was not full. Most of the residents seemed to have sort of settled back into their rooms for the night.
Berks leisure has been covid free since the beginning of the pandemic and the staff should be commended for their great work!!
The people who work at Berks Leisure are mean, rude do not respect the Resident or other staff, they treat people like animals, all they like to do is gossip and smoke.
Rooms are okay, Staff are lazy as can be constantly on there phones and do minimal work but do have a 2 good girls on 1st shift and 2 good ones on 2nd shift. The administrator is horrible and gossips about everyone including residents and everything is swept under the carpet. I would not recommend this place for family or any one to work.
